As we ease out of the lockdown and return to some semblance of normal life, for some (me included!) we're still processing the carnage that's been COVID-19. This virus devastated the Black and Asian communities and left many of us feeling vulnerable and suffering...
That there in the clouds
We carried on walking. Ny nephew- enthused with this success decided that if he could see THOG in an iphone picture -what would he see if he looked at the sky! How wonderful it was to see him find not only fathers and sons, birds, and castles all existing in the clouds in the sky. My nephew is not a particulary dreamy kid, he’s down to earth and in the last of the pre teen years before no doubt he’d be called upon to act like a ‘man’. What inspired me about him was that prompted by a picture – he opened his eyes and saw MORE. He went beyond what was presented to him and found his own magic up above. It made me wonder how often we are given something which could lead to joy, delight or at least a few minutes of thinking differently and we dismiss it? How often we see only the predictable, the joyless, the cynical?
It serves us not to stay with what’s on the surface. Only by enquiring, opening up one’s imagination, believing in a bit of magic, can we start to live beyond our limits. Only by being open to whatever wonder comes our way- can we be ready to feel that wonder. Closed minds. Closed hearts. I couldn’t see THOG, but watching my nephew was a reminder to lighten up, open up and embrace the world.
Love more!
